Taking music out of schools has left children not knowing folk and anthem-type songs. Causes more than a generation gap and lack of nationalism. Taking away recess n gym took away fitness and socialization opps. Duh! Taking art out of education has left them less creative and passionate. Taking away reading and writing standards has left them substandard and minus anticipation for what happens next. Who has done this? Government? Yes, I blame them a lot, but only partially. Parents dont have to remove these things from the home, but they do. Why not walk through the woods and identify leaves, make up and tell a story, read a nursery rhyme, sing a song - how many 25 and younger know America, My Country Tis of Thee, Oh Susannah! or even the Pledge of Allegiance (or is that punishable now as well?)?, paint a picture, go skip rocks at the creek or dam. Many of us had this and complain kids dont do it. Wish I had grand kids to show...
