Taking weaving to a new level I have combined 4 traditional Pitcairn Island medium together. This hat is made using Aute bark pounded into Tapa and moulded and pounded on a hat mould belonging to my grandmother. The tapa is then sealed and painted with varnish. The bottom of the crown and the brim is Heritage plaited sennet whose knowledge passed down from Bernice Christian is painstakingly taught me by my Mother Mavis. I have made the Hei in a 5 plaited sennet. Using Hattie leaves to make flowers and decorated with Pulau Bark. Made By Meralda Warren.
