Talagang mali ang gawaing ito --- pero in fairness, may talento ha... kaya lang, mali pa rin.... Hes probably another youtube sensation in the making whos enfolding right before our eyes, but wait, the performer here is Herbert “Ampang” Colangco, one of the 19 high-profile inmates, who is supposed to be living life as a convict inside the New Bilibid Prison‘s maximum security compound. Colangco, the leader of the notorious Waray-Waray and Ozamiz bank robbery gangs, had been jailed in the national penitentiary since 2009, and just recently was found by Department of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima to be among those who were living a lavish lifestyles inside the Bilibid prison. And by the looks of it, the bank robber has aspirations to be a singer; even behind bars --- and no one can stop him. The notorious leaders kubol in the penitentiary was found to be furnished with a generator-powered 60-sq. meter music studio complete with a stage for live musical performances; where he reportedly recorded five songs which were created by noted composer Edith Gallardo, who happens to be the tunesmith behind artist Aiza Seguerra’s hit “Pagdating Panahon”, as reported by Interaksyon. One of his recordings apparently made it to Youtube in May. He was also found to have in his possession a number of very expensive watches. However, it cant be said as yet whether he and his group has continued their criminal activities beyond the cell bars. The Department of Justice has their hands full with much-needed investigation regarding the latest discovery of mysterious amenities in the New Bilibid Prison. Together with other Bilibid VIPs, Colangco was transferred to the NBI headquarters in Manila after the raid by the DOJ secretarys team. It may be interesting to know that Ampang (a title given to Colangco as a label for respect similar to the Ilocano “Apo” or to the Bicolano’s “Manoy by his group, as written by one blogger vjtesoro) was the subject in a blog on Prison Watch which was published Dec. 30, 2013. In the blog entitled On Robbing Banks and Feeding People, the author also tackled the bank robbery leaders dreams, and where Colangco apparently shared his having his own band; to quote : “In a small corner of the prison camp, I organized a musical band. I am fond of music. I used to sing. I was actually a frustrated musician before I started to be a gangster. I could revive my interest, draw attention and notice to those who wanted to watch my career in small scale showbiz...
