Talbot Hospice Educates School Counselors with One Hour Education One Hour Education, a program designed specifically for School Counselors raises awareness on student issues which ultimately influence the well being of the classroom. Open to all counselors, the presentations begin at 8:30 am, last just one hour, and dismiss at 9:30 am. Due to construction at Hospice House they are currently being held at the Talbot County Board of Education main building on Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Easton, MD. All counselors are invited to attend at 8:30 am on February 11, 2015. The topic is The Childrens Mental Health Matters Campaign: The Importance of Raising Awareness of Childrens Mental Health: A Local Look at the Efforts of the Mental Health Association of Talbot County and the MD Coalition of Families, Rural CARES and Mid-Shore Mental Health. Two speakers will present; Holly Ireland, the Executive Director of the Mid-Shore Mental Health and Audra Chebonnier, Social Marketer and Family Lead, Rural CARES. (Coordination, advocacy, resources, education, support). On May 13, 2015, at 8:30 am, the topic is: Suicide Risk Assessment, Why Youth Typically Experience Suicidal Thoughts and The Signs and Symptoms of Depression. The speaker is Rob Schmidt, LCPN, NCC, Talbot County Public Schools, and Behavioral Specialist. Continuing Education Units, CEU’s are available. The program is approved by the National Board of Certifying Counselors.
