Talking heads all over the place, analyzing the outcome of the mid-term elections. Ill add my voice to the cacophony but Ill stick to what I know, and what I know about is my little fire district. Its not what you do during the election, or if you have a campaign. Its what the firefighters and staff do every day. And its not only what they do on emergency responses because, really, very few people (thankfully) have to experience their fire department in that way. Its how they do everything they do, every day. Write burn permits, put up Tiny Town, visit schools, respond to alarm activations, press apples into cider, conduct water rescues, answer phones, fit bike helmets, turn wrenches, maintain buildings, fight fire, delight trick-or-treaters, make sure employees are paid, save lives on medical calls ... all of it, all of them, all the time. With them, I am so proud to serve.
