Tamera applies for the change of the land use The PIER Process Tamera is standing at the threshold of REALIZING this vision! The current applicable Portuguese legislation is not supportive for the way we want to live. We want to manifest a “changing” subsistence and regional autonomy, in regard to infrastructure, new forms of water management and cooperation with nature. To be able to realize such models in the rural areas of Portugal and other countries, an adjustment and/or redefinition of existing regulations for land use and development is needed. In Tamera , we now have the opportunity to take a huge step. We are in cooperation with the Municipality of our county in Odemira to apply for a change in the land use plan at our regional authorities PIER (Plano de Intervenção em Espaço Rural). Specifically, we are about to sign the contract between Tamera and the Municipality and to start working together on the PIER process. We spearhead this as a pioneering process for other projects that will be facing similar issues as they grow to a bigger and more relevant size. Our commitment is to become an example that shows possible ways into a sustainable, abundant future in the seemingly poor, yet oh so rich, Alentejo. Outside experts and our ecologists are investigating how the human infrastructure, green building, sustainable energy production and increasing water retention landscape affect the development of our flora and fauna. With this in mind we are internally developing plans and building models so that we can present our new vision of Tamera to the world. We assume, that through the PIER process, Tameras work will receive a more prominent exposure in the Portuguese public. As a result of that, holistic management and ecological building may be positively incorporated in the political and legal landscape. There is also the possibility that our evolving Tamera model may be accompanied and documented by the scientific community as a research project. The estimated time for the PIER process is 24 months or more and the projected costs amount to about 150,000.- €. Funds are used to pay for the obligatory environmental study, the external specialist team of architects and landscape planners, lawyer and planning engineer, the necessary professional homologous cartography and any other related direct costs. Tamera takes on the costs for the internal planning and management . To make this a successful process we ask for your assistance! We look for financial contributions, ideas for which foundations or support programs we can rely upon, your professional know how and experience. Thanks in advance for your interest and best regards from Tamera’s PIER team tamera.org/political-network/articles/pier-2014/
