Tammy Cs tip for the day! If you ever have the opportunity or occasion to travel northeast on I-30 stop off at Texarkana and visit Naamans Championship Barbecue on Stateline Drive. I promise you will not be sorry you did. Danny and I became acquainted with Darby Neaves and his family on the cook-off trail several years ago. We even teamed up and cooked together a couple of times. Darby had his sites set on opening a barbecue place, almost 2 years ago he started with a food truck. He is about to open his indoor seating on Aug. 19th and has relocated since his start. When we visited him well over a year ago, there was no doubt in my mind he was on to something. Everything, meat and sides included were excellent! I dont consider myself an expert by any standard but I have had a good amount of barbecue over the years and I think I know good barbecue when I taste it. A number of years ago Danny and I visited some of Texas Monthlys top spots; in the end, their barbecue was not generally what I liked! I liked , one of their sides, the atmosphere or their sauce. Everything Naamans offers is made from scratch and there is not one thing that is not good! Darby does it first class and he does it well! I might throw in that as an Ag Teacher, I travel and eat at different places a lot! Some of my friends and myself can find the good spots and we pride ourselves on it! They will be the first to tell you, Tammy C does not eat barbecue! But given the opportunity I would eat at Naamans any chance I have. Danny and aspire to have a barbecue place in the future, I hope we can do it as well as our friend Darby!
