Tammy asks: Hi ya I was hoping to see some answers for this debate. You can word it how you want and use my name. Today I was doing laundry in my apartment bldg. My son is 21 months old. It was 930am. My son made puppy and giggle noises to hear himself echo. This is part of ages and stages I guess but also a sensory with his mild autism. I have him in therapy to work on his quirks but with ages and stages he still does what he does. There isnt a discipline problem. His autism gets the best of him at times. Telling him to behave or scolding him during his autism quirks is like telling a cancer patient not to have cancer. Anyhow he was making noises but it was at 930am and for only a few min. The neighbor yelled at him...I then ripped him a new one as he tried to tell me to follow the rules. My question for debate is Should individuals who have disabilities like my son have rules bent for them considering his age and his disability preventing him from following such rule? Im not saying people with disabilities should be above the law and commit crimes but I feel my son cant help the noises he makes...we work on it in therapy But he is only 21 months. Should noise ordances be leniant considering theres nothing I can do or he can do to control his impulses? I think this would be a good debate since those who are disabled dont want preferental treatment but yet we have spots designated for handicap parking. Thanks. Sorry for spelling errors. This is via mobile and I see like two lines at a time.
