San Francisco Giants RHP Tim Lincecum notched another milestone tonight against the New York Yankees, when he recorded the 1,500th strikeout of his career. Houston Astros will plan to honor former pitcher Andy Pettitte who played for the Astros from 2004-2006 & will finish his career next weekend at Minute Maid Park. Washington Nationals will honor manager Davey Johnson in a pregame ceremony before tomorrow night`s game against the Miami Marlins. It will feature a video montage highlighting Johnson`s career accomplishments. General Manager Mike Rizzo will also present an award to Davey Johnson. New York Mets activated third baseman David Wright from the disabled list. Wright homered in his first at-bat & finished the game going 2-5 against the Phillies. Chicago White Sox shut down LHP John Danks for the remainder of the 2013 season. Danks will finish the season with a 4-14 record, 4.75 ERA, 89 strikeouts in 22 games this season. Atlanta Braves activated Jason Heyward from the disabled list & placed him in the starting lineup this afternoon against the Cubs. Heyward was on the disabled list with a fractured jaw. Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell announced that Ryan Dempster will pitch out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season. Dempster has a 4.64 ERA in 29 starts this season. Cleveland Indians Justin Masterson threw a 33-pitch bullpen session today with no lingering effects from his strained left oblique, which he injured on September 2 during his start against the Baltimore Orioles. Philadelphia Phillies shut down pitcher Kyle Kendrick for the remainder of the season due to the tendinitis in his shoulder. RHP Zach Miner will take Kendrick`s spot in the rotation for the remainder of the 2013 season. Baltimore Orioles Miguel Gonzalez will start tomorrow`s game against the Rays & Bud Norris will be ready in the bullpen to back him up, if necessary. Detroit Tigers reliever Bruce Rondon moved one step closer to a return today with another throwing session on the field at Comerica Park.
