Tap House Grill 123 W. Washington Street Oswego, Ill. 60543 630-383-2020 I know it has been awhile since my last blog/review, but we were gone for 10 days to Paradise (Key West), and I didnt think you wanted reviews from there. Additionally, I am having Knee replacement Tuesday next week and it might be a little while before the next review. Last night four of us ventured out to Oswego, Illinois to the Tap House Grill. A lot of you may know that they are a seven store chain, with two more scheduled to open soon. As this particular location was one of the Original locations, I decided this was a good place to start. Upon entering the restaurant, it was buzzing with energy, and pretty well packed. As we got to the Hostess stand we asked the hostess for a waitress named Erica, she had been recommended to us by the people at Fox Valley Winery. (also in Oswego) We were told it might be a 20-25 minute wait. We sat on the bench next to the hostess, and within 5 minutes she stated that one of Ericas tables had opened up, and off we went! Upon sitting down, we were greeted by Erica who asked if we wanted a drink. Tap House carries over 50 brands of Beer. Some on Tap, and some in bottles. Usually they have a special, and most times it is a local favorite. Last night was NO exception. They had pints of Lagunitas IPA at a special price of $3.50. So I had one. Two others ordered diet cokes at $2.89 each, and one ordered a tea for $2.89 also. As we looked at the extensive menu, I decided an appetizer was in order. So I ordered the fried pickles ($8.99) for the table. Erica went to put in the order, and then brought out our drinks. When she arrived we ordered our meals. Kathy ordered the 1 LB. BLT ($9.99) sandwich with Tater Tots. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip sandwich ($12.99) with Tater Tots also. Paul ordered the traditional Fish and Chips ($9.49) and Paula ordered the Pork sliders and Tater Tots ($9.89) Within minutes Erica brought out the fried pickles I had ordered. They came with a Ranch Dressing, and a sweet beer mustard. The fried pickles were made using the Tap house pickle slices. They are just barely a pickle, more like a spiced slice of cucumber. The plate had 12 slices on it that had been beer battered and fried. They were a golden brown color, and a few were fried/stuck together. The flavor was good, but I thought the presentation could have been better. Erica then cleared the table just as our food arrived. The presentation on the plates all looked very nice. My Prime Rib Dip was served on a pretzel bun, the Tater Tots were golden brown, and had 2 cups on the plate. One was Au Jus, and the other was a mild horseradish dressing. Kathys 1 IB BLT was huge, and her Tater Tots were also done to perfection. Paulas sliders and Tater Tots looked good, and Pauls Fish and Chips had two fish filets fried to a golden brown on top of french fries with a cup of Tartar sauce. The Prime Rib Dip was very tasty and tender. The Tater Tots were done to perfection, the Pretzel bun was light and fresh and the Au Jus and the Horseradish sauce were good. Kathy enjoyed her 1 LB BLT sandwich and Tater Tots, and Paul and Paula said there food was also very good. All the food came out Hot, and was enjoyed by all. For Food Quality- Tap House gets a 4.89 Stars (almost perfect) For Food Pricing- Tap House gets a 4.50 Stars ( a little Pricey) For Drink pricing- Tap House Gets 4.0 Stars ($2.89 for a soda) The Server- Erica gets 5.0 Stars Cleanliness of the Restaurant-5.0 Tap House Overall gets 4.678 Stars When you are out near Oswego and looking for a good place to eat and drink, look no farther than Tap House.
