Taraba Assembly To Investigate N10bn Road Projects — Aug 20, 2014 The Taraba State House of Assembly yesterday in Jalingo moved a motion to investigate the utilisation of the N10billion loan procured in 2012 for the construction of four-kilometre roads across the 16 local government areas of the state. Hon Charles Maijankai from Karim Lamido 1 constituency said in the motion raised during plenary that a loan of N10billion was approved by the Assembly in 2012 for the construction of four- kilometre roads across the local government areas. He noted that the roads were poorly constructed and asked the House to set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the construction of the roads. The sitting which was presided over by the deputy speaker of the House, Hon Tanko Maikarifi, agreed to carry out an investigation into how the road projects were executed. The motion was seconded by Hon Muhammed Gaayam of Gashaka constituency. Maijankai stressed that the N10billion road projects across the 16 local government areas of the state were handled by the Taraba State Road Construction and Maintenance Agency (TARCMA) and PW Construction Company. Commenting on the motion, the deputy speaker condemned the quality of work done on the roads by the constructing firms, stressing that they must give an account on how the N10billion was spent when the road projects were going on
