Tattooing is one of the last things to come to mind when you think of countries like Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. As the world over exposes all the events unfolding in said countries and area there is subtle and beautiful secret that is hiding underneath it all. Its historic language. The Arabic language is a beautiful language, full of history and culture that has stood the test of time for thousands of years. Even from a design stand point, the calligraphy of the lettering, the differentiation in line weights and use of dynamic symbols is very attractive that makes for a great looking tattoo. ArabInk is a project that my talented and dear friend Bashar Alaeddin has put together to showcase just how beautiful this language is and how it translates so perfectly into the world of Tattooing. It is incredibly inspiring to have my eyes opened to the fact that something I practice every day, is being practiced all over the world in different cultures and all walks of life. ArabInk is not only showcasing the diversity of this language, but also the people that chose to have it forever decorating their bodies and the artists practicing it. With tattooing being glamorized to the point it is today, its good to see someone bringing awareness back to what really matters..
