Tava Granny Brock July 10, 1934 - January 19, 2015 Tava Lee Granny Slack Brock, 80, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, surrounded by her family, quietly and peacefully went Home to be with her Lord and Savior, and was reunited with her loving husband Kenneth, on Monday, January 19, 2015. Granny Brock was a native of Athens, Tennessee. She lived in Rossville, Georgia, where she was a member of Salem Road Baptist Church for 56 years, and was retired from Will Wear Hosiery Mill, Chattanooga, Tennessee, after many years of dedicated service. She loved spending time worshiping the Lord, working in her garden, and watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball. Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, William Kenneth Brock, Sr.; her parents, James & Vesta Slack (Athens, TN); her siblings, Louise Slack, J.W. Slack, and Irene Janway. Survivors include her four children: Bill (Jennifer Jones) Brock, Jimmy (Star Grant Brock) Brock, John (Lea Jackson Brock) Brock, and Joanne Brock Carter (Robert) Carter; one sister, Alma (Amos) Eaton; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer Brock Huskins, Julie Brock Carson, Bill Brock, III, Becca Brock Millott, John Brock, Jr., Toni Brock Grant, Walter Johnson, Brittany Carter-Williams, John N Angie Chenevare, Elden Crane Jr., and Brooke Burris. 24 great-grandchildren: Robbie Brock, Sara Chenevare, Jordyn Barclay, Kayla Morris, Austin Crane, Gary Barclay, Savannah Brock, Micah Genter, Jodi Chenevare, Andrew Brock, Joshua Millott, Tessa Craze, Reece Genter, Brooklyn Millott, Emma Grant, Gavin Brock, Millie Chenevare, Natalie Johnson, Liam Huskins, Abigail Grant, Baylee Anna Burris, Brock Burris, Hudson Brock, and Brody Burris; one great-great grandchild, Wyatt Brock. Condolences may be sent to lane-southcrestchapel Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Louis Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in Slacks Chapel Cemetery, Athens, Tennessee with Danny Eaton officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at South Crest Chapel. Jimmy Brock, John Brock, Sr., John Brock, Jr. Elden Crane, Jr., Gary Barclay, Bobby Eaton, Robert Carter, Allan Huskins, and Butch Genter will serve as pallbearers. SSGT Walter J. Johnson, U.S. Air Force, stationed in Hawaii, will act as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made In Memory of Tava Granny Brock for the benefit of Chattanooga Valley Recreation Association Youth Sports Scholarship Fund at Regions Banks, Ft. Oglethrope, Georgia. Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
