Tawakkol Karman was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 in - TopicsExpress

Tawakkol Karman was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 in recognition of her work in non-violent struggle for the safety of women in Yemen. This is her message to the world: Education is a fundamental right and it cannot be denied for any reason – certainly not a person’s religious beliefs. I am proud, as a Muslim woman, to support Education Is Not a Crime. Iran’s Baha’is must have access to higher education. Denying people of other faiths their right to an education is against Islam. At the time, upon being awarded the prize, Tawakkol became the second Muslim woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize, as well as the youngest Nobel Peace Laureate, at the age of 32.
