Taxi Drivers and Police Statements. Taxi Drivers Making Police Statements????? Save Money, or a Solicitor????? It has been brought to my attention that Taxi Drivers have been making Statements to the Police without Legal Advice, and not having a Solicitor Present when Making a Statement to the Police. In some of these Cases the matter has been Very Serious, and the Driver may get himself in to Very Serious Trouble. Drivers we work in an environment where we meet a lot of different people every day. Sometimes things go wrong, there are a lot of things that can go wrong in our line of work, and most of the time it is not our fault. We may feel that we are in the right and we have not done anything wrong, so if we make a statement to the Police than there will be no Problems, well that may be your first Mistake. If something has gone wrong and the Police want you to make a Statement they will always tell you that you have a legal right to have Legal Advice when you are making a Statement that you can have your Solicitor present when you give your Statement. Yes it may cost you money to have a Solicitor Present when you give your Statement to the Police, put I can assure you it will cost you a lot more if you end up in jail, that will cost you Money sitting in jail.
