Taylor County SPCA would like to welcome Scott Smith as its new - TopicsExpress

Taylor County SPCA would like to welcome Scott Smith as its new President. Harry Rief resigned the position a couple weeks ago. We would like to take this opportunity to wish Harry and his family the best that life has to offer, thank you for your time that you gave to the SPCA. Scott it is with a warm welcome we greet you into your new position and we look forward to working with you and progressing the SPCA into a new role as not a passive role in advocacy for educating the public to the hazards that are out there to their animals, advocating for stricter cruelty laws not only in our county but in our state. Helping our neighboring counties as well as our own with animal abandonment issues and relocation. Animals do not know the difference between one county line to another and the counties directly adjacent to us may have to house a dog there simply because it was dumped near the county line because somebody didn’t want it. There is no way to prove with 100% certainty where the stray came from because unless its micro chipped it cannot tell us what county it belongs so we need to help our neighboring counties as well. We need to pull together and get Kentucky out of dead last place in terms of the health and welfare of our animals and get laws changed so people who enact instances of cruelty to any animal will be punished, long term it would even be nice to have a registry that has all animal cruelty people listed so shelters and individuals would be able to know the people not to give our animals from our farms or our shelters too. Lots of positive change around the corner, this is just a few of the many things SPCA as a group is looking into, of course your ideas are always welcome. You may inbox the page or you may attend a meeting and we will discuss what is on the agenda with you.
