Teachers Strike.... Its sad that as we prepare to usher in New Year teachers are threatening to go on strike. As a concerned parent I hope they reconsider this decision and agree to dialogue. As a concerned MP I wonder why they choose to strike in the middle of the financial year with Bunge on recess until Feb when we resume to handle the Budget of 2015/2016.... The objective of the strike should be to get their grievances addressed and the funds necessary allocated thus this many years of strikes they should locate their matter within the budget cycle.... Its unfair for teachers to strike to punish pupils and their parents and the Country at large. In the Budget Committee we have been very keen on education matters allocating a substantial part of our National Budget to Education in excess of 160billion to TSC. Jubilee Administrations flagship projects on Education are great (5,000 additional teachers, tertiary insts per Constituency 60 this year, sanitary towels to girls, cash transfers to orphans and vulnerable children etc) . We are speaking the same language on education, we should be able to agree. Kindly teachers call off the threatened strike....
