Team Peugeot-Hansen Excited For Home Round Of World RX In France The eighth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship next weekend is special for Team Peugeot-Hansen as the squad heads to the birthplace of Peugeot; France. The event takes place at Lohéac in the Bretagne region, the spiritual home of French rallycross and one of the most anticipated events in the World RX calendar. In 2013, over 70, 000 people crossed Lohéac’s threshold to witness frantic International competition. Team Peugeot-Hansen embark on their home event on the back of two podium finishes in Belgium and Canada for both Timmy Hansen and Timur Timerzyanov, and hope to continue the trend on a circuit that is very different from the previous round in Canada. Timur Timerzyanov: “To race a French car in France is very special.” Russian driver Timur Timerzyanov finished third at Trois-Rivières last time out, the first time that the championship has crossed the Atlantic Ocean. The result was the double European Champion’s best of the season so far, and he will be aiming for his first victory in the new World Championship era at Lohéac. “The French round is a great race for all of the drivers, and of course for us as the Peugeot team. To race a French car in France is very special. I need to make up for not getting the result I wanted to there last year. The track is very good, it’s very different to some of the previous rounds - very smooth with no real bumps at all. I think we need to work hard to get the setup right to be like a circuit racing car there. We will be ready to fight for the first position. That’s what I want.” Timmy Hansen: “If there is any race we want to do well at over the others, it’s this one.” Former single seater circuit racer Timmy Hansen just missed out on joining team mate Timerzyanov in the final at round seven of the World RX series in Canada. The young Swede is confident that Lohéac will suit his smooth driving style and is hoping for a top result. “Lohéac is going to be a huge race for the whole team. The French crowd is amazing. If there is any race we want to do well at over the others, it’s this one. Ahead of the season starting this year, if you had asked me which circuit I thought I could do best at, it’s Lohéac. I’m feeling really confident. The car is getting better all the time. The track should suit my driving style, so it’s going to be a really good weekend. I can’t wait.” Kenneth Hansen: “I think we can bring the 208 WRX up to speed quickly at Lohéac.” Team principle Kenneth Hansen has himself been victorious as a driver at Lohéac in the past, and the team has a good understanding of the venue. The new 208 WRX has been fast on all of the World RX circuits so far in 2014. On the back of two podium finishes from the last two events, Hansen believes the squad can be on the pace from the start of the weekend in France. “Lohéac is a track where we have been many times, and been very fast there in the past. I think we can bring the 208 WRX up to speed quickly. We will have some small evolutions here and there on the car so we can be a little more efficient. The team has an increasing knowledge of the car all the time, and how to get the best out of it. We have some good plans and a good base setup to work straight away and build on that.” The eighth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Lohéac will be broadcast on television in over 120 countries around the world. Among those, the event can be watched live on Sunday afternoon in France on L’Equipe 21, in Sweden on Viasat Sport and in the UK on British Eurosport.
