Team number: eBIA2014035 Project Name: Eco Maze Description: Embrace our Nature, Enlighten our Eco-future Eco Maze is a community with 63% of green coverage that contains a main building, clubhouse with a farm, EcoHill and government properties. We created a low-density mixed-use main building to prevent wall effect. With an oval shape and 3-step expand layer building design, residents enjoy the same natural environment despite their room location difference, including breeze, sunlight and the invincible sky view. These help to lower their consumption on air conditioners and lights. Besides traditional windows, a double glass wind entry system is installed in every flat. There is a small adjustable gap for people to control indoor ventilation. When there is rain or typhoon, they can still open the gap for fresh air without rainwater or strong wind getting in. Again, it helps to reduce energy consumption. A glass stair tower covered with underbrushes is designed in the center of the building, encouraging people to do more exercise and reduce lift usage. An odourless food scrap processer is placed in every apartment for residents to transform leftovers to fertilizer. Just a small step and we can contribute to the environment by transforming waste to something useful. Solar panels are attached on the main building exterior to transform sunlight to electricity, mainly supporting the terrace lightings. The shopping mall in ground floor contains a roof glass design to direct natural sunlight into indoor sector, reducing the usage of electric lights. We also construct a C02 conversion system to collect indoor C02 and transform them into energy using advanced water technology. The circular maglev supports the transportation among our main building (floor LG1), government properties and the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway station. Besides bringing convenience, it helps to reduce pollution, noise and energy waste. The car park in floor LG2 provides over 150 electric car charging stations to support people using electric cars to reduce the environmental impact. An ultimate irrigation system and a rainwater storage system are built under the terrace to support irrigation in Eco Maze. Other than transporting used tap water from New Legend, rainwater is absorbed by the soil layer then stored into water pipes through filtration. Water flows out only when irrigation is needed, which helps to save water. The farm next to the clubhouse has two purposes. One is growing Chinese herbs for nearby medical research office. Second is inviting students from nearby schools to practice organic farming for educational purpose, then the harvest is used to support the hotel food supply. The main building materials of the EcoHill are the underground construction waste and water for generating hydroelectric power is used tap water. Reusable resources help to reduce exploitation on the nature. We create campaigns like vegetarian party, Green Monday, Eco catwalk, food scrap to fertilizer award scheme, etc. All these promote ecofriendly ideas to people in a fun and relax way. We generate our profit mainly from rental of stores in the shopping mall, then hotel property and the circular maglev system. Video Link: youtube/watch?v=76KomihVr4M&feature=youtu.be
