Teaneck NJ - Innovative Teaneck Teens Find a Successful Niche with Unique Vacation Business Teaneck NJ - While most teenagers have spent the past eight weeks in camp or otherwise enjoying down-time, a brother-sister team in Teaneck devoted their summer to a newly formed business that served vacationing friends and neighbors. While You’re Away is the brainchild of David and Yaeli Rothschild, a pair of budding entrepreneurs who saw a business opportunity and capitalized on it. “We take in mail, packages and newspapers,” 13 year old Yaeli Rothschild told VIN News. “We take care of pets while you’re away. We water the lawn and basically do all you need done while you’re not at home.” Neither Rothschild nor her 15 year old brother had any interest in going to summer camp. “We wanted to find something that would give us something to do this summer and also help people around town,” explained Rothschild, who will be entering 8th grade at Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey. Her brother David will be a 9th grader at Torah Academy of Bergen County this year. Rothschild reported that the fledgling business, which was advertised by word of mouth and via ads in Congregation Shaare Tefillah’s weekly shul bulletin, was well received. “People were very enthusiastic about the services we provide,” reported Rothschild, who babysits and does weekly shul groups for younger children. “We had a handful of steady customers and we get additional inquiries almost daily.” While You’re Away will continue to service customers throughout the year and according to Rothschild, the teens’ parents were extremely supportive of their efforts, helping them with business cards and in spreading word of their business venture. “Early on they wanted to do things like sell lemonade at ages six and seven,” recalled Micha Rothschild, the teens’ father, who admitted to being very proud of his children. “I think that this is wonderful and hope they move from strength to strength. Nothing gives us more nachas than that!”
