The series is based on a book of the same name, the first in a series by Kass Morgan, and developed by Jason Rothenberg Premise: The series is set 97 years after a devastating nuclear war wiped out almost all life on Earth. The only survivors are the residents of twelve space stations in Earths orbit prior to the war, and the descendants of the people on earth who survived the war, called grounders by the 100. The space stations banded together to form a single massive station named The Ark, where about 2,400 people live. Resources are scarce and all crimes no matter their nature or severity are punishable by death (floating) unless the perpetrator is under 18 years of age. After the Arks life support systems are found to be critically failing, one hundred juvenile prisoners are declared expendable and sent to the surface in a last ditch attempt to determine if Earth is habitable again. The ark consist of the space stations previously representing the nations of the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, China, Japan, India, Russia, Venezuela, France, Brazil, and Uganda. Executive Producers: Jason Rothenberg Leslie Morgenstein Matt Miller Gina Girolamo Bharat Nalluri Network: The CW Number of Episodes: 13 Currently shooting: Season 2 Air Dates: March 19, 2014 – present Casting: Coreen Mayrs/Heike Brandstatter The Characters: Main cast: Eliza Taylor as Clarke Griffin, daughter of Dr. Abigail Griffin and Jake Griffin. She was imprisoned as an accessory to the crimes of her father, though before, she was seen as a member of the upper-class. Down on the ground, she is portrayed as relatively benevolent, possessing natural leadership qualities. Bobby Morley as Bellamy Blake, brother to Octavia. He professes a strong determination to protect his sister, spanning from her birth. He is the initial leader of the 100, possessing strong leadership skills. He develops from an almost antagonistic character to an antihero, realizing the 100 matter more to him then he lets on. Marie Avgeropoulos as Octavia Blake, sister of Bellamy - a rare relationship given the Arks one-child rule. She was kept a secret by her family, living under the floorboards to avoid detection by authorities. Shes a fiercely independent girl who is constantly rebelling and getting attention from boys, much to Bellamys displeasure. Thomas McDonell as Finn Collins, a cunning, amusing, and reckless teenager who is always looking for fun, adventure, and a peaceful solution. He is also Clarkes love interest, though the relationship starts collapsing when he is later revealed to be Ravens boyfriend. Lindsey Morgan as Raven Reyes, a zero-gravity mechanic when onboard the Ark. She later was launched in a pod sent to Earth. It is revealed her boyfriend is Finn Collins, one of the 100. Raven has been helping The 100 to communicate with the Ark. Christopher Larkin as Monty Green, a smart and tech-savvy teenager who is a valuable asset to the teenagers down on earth due to his intellect. His family is in charge of the pharmaceuticals on the Ark. He is best friends with Jasper, remaining loyal through thick and thin. Devon Bostick as Jasper, a goofy, outgoing and adventurous boy who risked his life to save Octavia - whom he harbors feelings for - from a river snake. After his capture and subsequent rescue from grounders, he is anxious on top of his other personality traits. Paige Turco as Councilwoman Dr. Abigail Griffin, mother of Clarke. She is the chief medical officer of the Ark and the main proponent regarding the habitable status of Earth. Her husband was the chief engineer, Jake Griffin. Henry Ian Cusick as Councilman Marcus Kane, the Chancellors second-in-command. Though initially wanting to kill for the remaining members of the Ark to survive, he later feels guilt and wont rest until everyone left alive is safe. Isaiah Washington as Chancellor Thelonius Jaha, father of Wells and the elected leader of the Ark. Recurring Cast: Eli Goree as Wells Jaha (season 1), Clarkes former best friend and son of the Arks chancellor - a relationship for which he is despised by the rest of the 100. He intentionally committed a crime when he found out about the imminent launch to join the expedition to Earth and try to protect Clarke, whom he harbors feelings for. Clarke despises him, as she believes he is the reason her father is dead, until realizing it wasnt him. Richard Harmon as John Murphy, Bellamys main thug and generally disliked by the group. After being wrongfully accused and nearly killed, he was banished from the camp for pursuing Charlotte for killing Wells, causing her to commit suicide. He later returns, having escaped from the Grounders, although hes been beaten severely and revealed to carry an illness with him that affects the whole camp. He seems to have come around and forgiven the 100 for banishing him. Later, however, he kills Connor for tying the rope around his neck when he was sentenced to death for his actions. Sachin Sahel as Jackson, Abbys helper and confidant. Ricky Whittle as Lincoln, a Grounder who initially belongs with his Tribe, but later rescues Octavia and they fall in love. He betrays his own tribe so that Octavia can live, but he leaves when he knows a war is coming, though eventually returning for her. Alessandro Juliani as Sinclair, a technician on the Ark.cwtv/shows/the-100/ Pilot: Set in an indeterminate year in the distant future, 97 years after a nuclear war has devastated the surface of Earth, the only remaining humans are residents of a flotilla of orbiting space stations known as The Ark. 100 juveniles convicted of various crimes are sent to the surface to test its habitability. Among them is 17-year-old Clarke Griffin, the daughter of the Arks chief medical officer and chief engineer. The 100 discover a lush Earth filled with new wonders and dangers. A small group of five, including Clarke, makes an overland trek to a possible site of food and supplies located through the forest at the former Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center in the former state of Virginia in the former United States, while the rest remain at the landing site and celebrate their new world. Back on the Ark, the leader of the Ark, Chancellor Jaha, has been shot, causing Councilman Kane, the second in command to take charge. The new leader does not believe in mercy in a place where all law breaking is a capital crime. Season 1 Finale: Clarke (Eliza Taylor) has been captured by the mountain men and locked in a white room in government safe house Mount Weather. How many of the original 100 are left standing after the epic battle with the Grounders? We don’t know the fate of bad-boy Bellamy (Bob Morley) or good-boy Finn (Thomas McDonell) but I’m betting these fan favourites will survive. Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) has gone off with her Grounder lover Lincoln (Ricky Whittle). Up on the Ark, Chancellor Jaha (Isaiah Washington) sacrificed himself and is floating in space but Abby (Paige Turco), Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) and others from the Ark crash-landed in what looked like a particularly beautiful part of Pitt Meadows. How will everyone re-unite? ACTOR’S NOTES THEMES: GENRE: STYLE (AND COMPARISON): ACTING ADJUSTMENT: ACTOR’S CHARACTER HITS WITHIN THE SHOW:
