Teaser Posters For Fincher’s ‘Gone Girl’ Have It In The Bag David Fincher’s forthcoming adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl is creating more intrigue with a new series of evidence-heavy poster images. An initial poster showed us the enigmatic sight of a boat under a giant sky, generating an air of glassy menace. Now the campaign, leading up to tomorrow’s trailer release, takes us a bit closer with hints of the grim incidents that will unfold. Here’s the first image… Now while I’m unsure about applying the word “mysterious” to what look like someone’s pants, this is certainly one way to grab viewers’ attentions. We are entering Twin Peaks territory with this singed bit of paper containing a deadly warning. The plot of the novel revolves around a nexus of ambiguity relating to Nick Dunne, whose wife Amy has been murdered. Nick is played by Ben Affleck and Amy by Rosamund Pike, and this plastic-wrapped shot shows them in happier times. The last image is a signpost for the squeamish. Of course it could be a simple letter opener or somesuch. The central characters in Flynn’s book are unemployed writers (not that I’d know anything about that) so it could be used to open their benefit cheques. The blade looks fairly clean to me, but then this is a David Fincher film. Note to self: bring sickbag. It certainly looks to be an interesting ride, and with Flynn’s comments that the director has changed the source material readers won’t truly know what to expect either. GONE GIRL is also the strangest combination of talent assembled that I’ve heard about in recent memory – Reese Witherspoon is producing and the cast are rounded off by Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. Oh, and Trent Reznor is supplying the music, just in case things weren’t scatological enough. More will be revealed on Monday, hopefully replacing those start-of-the-week blues with moody thrills… Source: ComingSoon
