#TeaserTuesday: Heres the tease for #UnderAMeltingSun: The Xerambu tribe practices the Bullet Ant Ritual, a real ritual that involves sewing Bullet Ants into a handmade glove that has to be worn for 10 mins straight. This ritual is considered a right of passage for boys to become men. Seems legit, except that the reason why these ants are called Bullet Ants is because their sting is so painful that it feels like youve been shot. So not only are these boys putting both hands into gloves that have swarms of angry ants sewed into them, these ants sting repeatedly. And to make matters worse, the pain lasts 24 hours...and escalates after the stinging has occurred. So what does a Welsh anthropologist do when faced with a ritual like this? Lets just say a whole lot of cussing was involved. ;) Want to see how it feels? Thanks to National Geographic, this video should do the trick. :) Enjoy! #NationalGeographic #NatGeo #AmazonRainforest
