Teatro Miguel (TEAM) is a realization of the combined inspiration of Mr. Benjie Poblete, Mr. Nick Roldan, Mr. Angel Sarmiento, Mr. Jerry Suva and Ms. Luring Franco. The five elders aspired to give all Filipino youth equal opportunities at developing and dignifying their skills and abilities. This five were clearly aware of the increasing percentage of Filipino youth who are immersing themselves in a world of violence and vice. It was their vision to receive this adolescence and provide them with a proper channel in which they discover and express themselves in a healthier god-fearing and self dignifying manner. Furthermore, they sought to develop the total personality of each individual based on the virtues of love, self-discipline, courtesy, gratitude, thus to be molded as examples for other youth. This theater group will also provide the youth a meaningful past time as they develop their god-given talents. With such steadfast and clear-cutted goals, the five elders thus approached the late National Artist for Dance, Mr. Ramon Arevalo Obusan of Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group to assist them in the formation of their group. The first production was entitled “Isang Sulyap sa Kalinangan” on the 3rd Quarter of 2003. The TEAM started of with a big group and that they forth, there was no stopping them. Another element that drives TEAtro Miguel is an aspiration toward a theatre and dance company that will be able to lucidly represent the rich and abundant Philippine Culture and tradition through dance, music and drama. In addition to this, the five elders made a mission to strive for full artistic excellence despite limited resources and the present day economic limitations. At the moment, the TEAM humbly celebrates 8 years of fruitful existence and service to the Filipino people.
