Did you know that precious stones such as Diamonds are very valuable and one can be an instant billionaire overnight? Did you know that the industry is controlled and dominated mainly by the wealthy, corrupt Jews and Belgians, who operate mafia style through cartels, right here in Botswana. Did you know? Did you know that slavery mentality and racism exists in these local diamond factories? Our brothers and sisters are being subjected to very low pay, abusive language and mental torture. Yes, the system has been refurbished to make it rough and tough for the locals to be allowed to venture in the diamond polishing and cutting business, right here in Botswana. It doesnt make sense to realise that we locals ARE not allowed to benefit from OUR own mineral resources handed to us by our forefathers. sorting of stones, cutting them on a business, polishing, and manufacture jewellery has never been tough. We are made to believe that this industry is full of risks and expensive to run: thats mere lies, thats how these cartels operate. On their invasion in 2006 they flooded our country, bombarded innocent degree graduates with false promises that they wanted to train some of them to be diamond technologists to work for their prestigeous companies. Some graduates were later taken to South Africa for training (names of companies known) only to be subjected to more emotional distress due to shody accomodations whereby 4 of them would share a room and and bunk beds,in a neighborhood or area perceived to be the most dangerous in johannesburg (Hilbrow),yet their masters basked in the comforts of surburbs. That was a tricky tool used by these companies by luring innocent souls into a ditch,a tool they used as a lie towards the government to acquire Licenses. Innocent souls only realised that a dark cloud of verbal promises was sealed on the eve of their return whereby they were forced to sign rubbish employmen contracts under duress. One hinted to me that his contract stipulated that his salary would be P2 500.00, a graduate Mechanical Engineer. They tried to explain the extent to which Rent in Gabs was expensive, food, transport etc to no avail. Under Duress, take it or leave it. Two years wasted in johannesburg polishing diamonds resulted in total failure, false hopes. The said companies had in mind that having allowed to setup their factories in block 8,they no longer required the services of the innocents graduates, hence they dumped them. They later brought polishers from south africa and israel to botswana, with no professional qualifications at all and were paid salaries ranging from P35 000pm as compared to the P2 500pm promised to our local lads. Of all the factories and companies, there isnt any local holding a managerial post (except Safdico). Ministry of Labour and Home afairs officials have been corrupted by these companies, any labour issues related to these factories are dismissed right away. My point is, I urge all to rise up and enjoy the fruits of our country. Lets demand from the government what is rightfully ours. We should all be empowered so as to benefit through diamond businesses rather than empowering these foreign elements who seem to be milking our resources left and right, yet our country reels in the after shocks of power load shedding day by day. South africa has the BEE,I guess it is high time we have our own BEE in Botswana and shape up. We need those licenses too so as to get the financial assistance to setup factories. A 0.5 carat polished diamond depending on the cut and colour costs/ranges from 2800USD according to rappaport grading system which reflects to P20 000 per unit 0.5,yet these guys polish thousands of carats every month. DTC has since loosened their monopoly on sightholding to allow non-sighholders to penetrate the market of roughs, mathata ke goromente o gana ka di license due to corrupt officers and certain greedy family. The story is long, but truth be said, you should all know that you as Batswana can make a living out of diamonds, and that factories that you see around are not abiding by the codes and ethics and employmen act. CEDA a e thuse bagaetsho,re lapisitswe ke ipelegeng le backyard gardening le dikobo tsa di fong kong.
