Techael Foundation-Liberia a local NGO based in Monrovia is “Fighting Hunger in Schools” through donations. Worldwide, one person in seven goes to bed hungry every night. Child hunger kills nearly 16,000 children a day, thats one child every 5 seconds who dies from child hunger. The current global food crisis is being called by many a silent tsunami that could plunge millions of children into child hunger. For those who live, more than 300 million children go to bed hungry every night. Rising food prices and an escalating global food crisis is creating more child hunger. Food prices have doubled in some countries since 2006, and Liberia is one of those countries among those hit hard by rising food prices. Poverty is pervasive and food insecurity is just one of the many observable factors. As Liberians, we need to take the time to understand and act on this unfortunate reality. We can help make a big difference in the life of a child. Let’s work together to reduce hunger in schools. Your help to end child hunger in schools is needed now more than ever. You can help children affected by hunger in schools by donating food and non-food items to feed school kids and help them stay in school.
