Technical Adviser EU About the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat The Pacific Islands Forum was founded in August 1971 and comprises 16 independent and self-governing states in the Pacific. Its Leaders meet annually to develop collective responses to regional issues. The Forum’s administrative arm is the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, based in Suva, Fiji. It acts as the Secretariat for Forum-related events, implements decisions by the Leaders, facilitates the delivery of development assistance to member states, and undertakes the political and legal mandates of Forum meetings. The Forum Secretariat is also mandated to coordinate the implementation of the Pacific Plan for strengthening regional cooperation and integration. The Forum Secretariat is an Equal Opportunity Employer. About this Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for a Technical Adviser EU to join the Secretariat. Reporting to the Director Strategic Partnerships & Coordination Programme, the Technical Adviser EU will be supporting the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in his role as the Regional Authorising Officer. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to): · European Development Fund (EDF) Programming; · Project Formulation and Design; · EDF Administration; and · Management. Applicants should have a masters degree in disciplines as such Economics, Project Management, Public Policy Management, or Social Science or related discipline. Candidates should have up to 10 years experience of Development Assistance of which at least 5 years has been spent in a developing country with very good knowledge of EU development policy and a broad understanding of development and sectoral issues in the Pacific Region, strong leadership and communication skills and a high level of technical competency in EDF rules and procedures is essential. About the Benefits The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance. The salary will be in the range of SDR39,279 to SDR58,919 per annum. At the 1 February 2014 exchange rate this salary range was equivalent to FJD114,583 to FJD171,876. For non-Fijian nationals, this salary may be tax-free.
