Ted here....3:05 PM EDT.....Here is the latest River information from New Brunswicks Emergency Measures Organization.... River Watch 2014 issued an ice movement and flood warning today at 3 p.m. Environment Canada is forecasting warm days and cold nights for the next 48 hours with trace amounts of precipitation. Over the next number of days water levels will remain high, and above flood stage in some areas. This is a continuously changing situation and people are asked to continue to be on alert for ice movement and rising water levels. The Department of Public Safety’s Emergency Measures Organization is warning people who are observing ice flows and high water levels to stay away from the edge of waterways. Residents should also avoid using boats or kayaks on open water as currents are fast, may be carrying debris and the water is cold. In areas where ice covers remain, it is now unsafe to cross waterways on foot, snowmobiles and ATVs because of ice deterioration. There has been one incident of a car going into a waterway because of observers getting too close. There remain multiple water-covered roads and road closures throughout the province. Areas of concern ● Upper St. John River at St. Anne-de-Madawaska: An ice jam below the municipality is currently not holding back water at Siegas. Levels above the jam are decreasing. ● St. John River at Perth-Andover /Tobique First Nation: An ice jam below the village is currently not holding back water. Levels are slightly below flood stage. There are concerns of ice movement from up river meeting with the current jam in Muniac causing water levels to increase in Perth-Andover and Tobique First Nation. Residents in low-lying areas remain under voluntary evacuation. ● Also along the St. John River: o Woodstock – an ice jam remains in place at Bulls Creek, causing elevated water levels in the Woodstock area.
