Teddy Palmer to Race For Adoption A few years ago, while discussing things on the old Greytalk message board, I had an idea. What if a greyhound were to have its career and earnings dedicated to supporting an adoption group? What if a whole bunch of greyhounds, across the country, were all designated, by their owners, to also race for adoption? Thanks to the hard work of our friends and to the generosity of the adoption, pet and racing communities, the concept developed some traction, and Race For Adoption became a reality. Im happy to announce that the Sharon and DQ Williams Kennel has not only named a dog after that great friend of greyhounds, Teddy Palmer, but has also, most generously, dedicated the career of the greyhound Teddy Palmer to racing for the benefit of Halfway Home Greyhound Adoption, the human Teddy Palmers adoption group. The greyhound Teddy is a red/fawn, January, 2012 daughter of RA Blazer out of the Dodgem By Design daughter, Bees A Winner. She is currently competing in grade A sprints at Mardi Gras. We wish her continued good luck in her already impressive career, and thank the Williams Kennel for dedicating it to the Race For Adoption concept. Its great to see that the eminently simple Race For Adoption concept, of dedicating a greyhounds earnings to the adoption group(s) of your own choice, is still viable, and still cementing friendships and partnerships between the racing and adoption communities.
