Teenage girl indecently assaulted by man in Marston Moretaine Written byJULIA SUTTON A 16-YEAR-OLD girl was indecently assaulted by a man as she went to get her lunch. The incident happened on Tuesday in Bedford Road, Marston Moretaine, as she walked near the chip shop and Co-op after midday. She was approached by a man who persisted in rubbing up against her and touching her indecently. The girl was upset and frightened, although not injured, and she managed to get away and back to her work place, where the police were called at about 12.50pm. The offender, aged about 21, is thought to have been drinking and with a group of other men who saw what happened. He’s described as white, skinny, about 5ft 7ins tall and apparently goes by the name or nickname of Eric. He was wearing a dark blue hooded top. Det Sgt Albert Freer would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, or recognises the description of Eric and knows who he is. He said: “People should be able to walk round and use their local shops without being subjected to this sort of disgusting behaviour. “The young woman was extremely upset by what happened and I’m sure there are quite a few people who either saw it or know this person and who would like to help us stop this happening again to someone else.” If you can help with information, call Det Sgt Freer direct on 01234 275113. Alternatively, contact the non-emergency police 24 hour number 101, text the force control room direct on 07786 200011 or phone independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. You do not have to give your name but could still earn a cash reward for your information.
