Ten Danbury students take home prizes from Connecticut Invention Convention Over the weekend, 10 students from Danbury schools were awarded prizes for their inventions at the state’s largest invention competition held May 3 at UCONN Storrs. There were 35 students from Danbury among the some 600 competitors. The 35 students were chosen from 350 competitors from the district. The state-level winners were awarded as “recognized inventors” and are: Grace Carey, Pembroke Elementary School; Liam Clark, Pembroke; Audrey Hinh, Shelter Rock Elementary; AnnaMarie Hickey, Stadley Rough Elementary School; and from Rogers Park Middle School: Braeden Callaghan, Clarissa Lugo-Commans, Jack Pompilio, Ashley Corrie, Sophia Folino and Nathaniel Hornik. The invention convention fosters interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics learning for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Many of the district’s 13 elementary schools and both middle schools participated in the March 20 district-wide competition held at the Bill Williams Gymnasium on the Midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. Judges included teachers, scientists and engineers. This was the 31st year of the competition. #Danbury Board of Education#
