Ten steps out my backdoor. Where you see the creek level off is about 6 feet deep after a good rain. We walk out of our backdoor and have to cross the bridge to get to most of our backyard. Copperheads are the scariest though because they dont run, just lay there and wait. Really bad since the horses are gone from the pasture next to my house. Now we get field mice because the grass is so high, and if you know anything about snakes then you know that if a mouse is in your house old no-shoulders might be on his trail. Killed copperheads on the porch and two in the house. Real country life is not for the faint at heart. Black snakes and owls(I put owl boxes in the trees next to the creek) are my best friends.
