Ten things I learned in Boston, Mass: 1) If you live in the city, be prepared to walk - a lot 2) Bostonians are confused about their own history. The Bunker Hill Monument actually stands on Breeds Hill. The Boston Massacre, although tragic, lost only five lives and was actually precipitated by drunken Bostonians overreacting to the antics of a lone British guard. Lastly, Paul Revere was incorrect. He should have said one if by land and two if by RIVER - not sea, since the purpose of his ride was to warn about British encroachment in the Charles River area. A minor oversight. 3) Nosebleed seats at Fenway Park cost as much as above-average seating in many other stadiums. 4) Apparently the builders of Gillette Stadium didnt expect anyone to want to go there, since the only access to the site is by one or two tiny roadways. Thankfully the ample plumbing inside the stadium makes the long wait in the lines of cars feasible. 5) Similarly, the JFK Presidential Library is equally inaccessible. Even with GPS, it took us about three tries to finally weave our way around, over, and through the campus of UMass Boston to get there. 6) Ho Chi Minh and Malcom X both worked at the Omni Parker House hotel where every US President has stayed. Creepy. 7) Despite the fact that there are 60 left-wing institutions of higher learning in the city and environs, all of whom preach on the evils of racism, one can count the number of minorites you see while walking within the city on ones left toes. Like less than .001 per cent. 8) Paul Revere worked virtually every job in Boston during his time. No joke, 9) Beacon Hill has been surpassed by the Back Bay as the chic-est place to live. 10) I loved my visit there and cant wait to go back some day! :) It is an amazing place.
