#TenBooksChallenge Ah! So Tanya has asked me to do one of the most difficult things in this world. These books have stayed with me since the moment I read them. If I could turn back time, I would go back and want to read them again, to be spellbound again, be lost for the first time in the wondrous worlds they created. In no particular order - 1. A Fraction of the Whole - Steve Toltz - Every page of this book had at least one line which would make me call up a friend and say - you just have to read this! (Hello Avni). You could pick lines from every page and make them a status message. 2. The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams - Without a doubt one of the most wittiest and hilarious books ever written. Perhaps no one was more sadder than I when Douglas Adams left this world (I hope he said So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish ) 3. American Gods - Neil Gaiman - The first book (Thanks Rucha!) which introduced me to Neil Gaiman, have never looked back since. I have loved each of his books and comics (the epic Sandman series) and always crib why arent there more! I would probably put each of his books on this list. The unforgettable characters. The unforgettable stories. 4. Nightfall and Foundation series - Isaac Asimov - (Yes im cheating a bit, both of these deserve a mention) - It takes a special kind of visionary to imagine hypothetical situations on a grand scale and extrapolate the behaviour of humanity in response to those situations. I do believe probably nobody understood the human psyche as much as Asimov. 5. The Kingkiller Chronicle - Patrick Rothfuss - One of the best fantasy tales ever written. Kvothe is an unforgettable character. You just dont want it to end. Ever. 6. Three Men in a Boat - Jerome K. Jerome - The epitome of wit. Every sentence will make you laugh out loud and make you marvel at the wit of the author. 7. The Great Indian Novel - Shashi Tharoor - Retelling Mahabharata with the caste and characters of the 20th century Indian politics, which explains events in both the realms, takes a special kind of talent. 8. The Simoqin Prophecies - Samit Basu - Showed me that an Indian author can also create worlds which rank right up there in this list! :D 9. Catch-22 - Joseph Heller - The very definition of dark humour and wit. Will make you laugh, will make you smile, will make you think about what you just laughed at. 10. Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World - Haruki Murakami - I still think this is one of his best works. Two parallel worlds, and you cannot remotely imagine them colliding in a way they do. Has to be read to be truly experienced. What a ride it was. Okay, ten is so so so unfair! Where do i mention Mistborn series or Tom Sharpe or Terry Pratchett or Bartimaeus Trilogy or Jasper Fforde Books or Umberto Eco especially Foucalts Pendulum !! Anyhoo. Ive done my bit. Your turn - Rucha Avni Nishpriha Sowmya Sanchit Kanika Mohsin Urvashi Aditi Aditya
