Terce – On the book ‘The Precious Blood” by Fr Fredrick Faber: “The Church has never made converts by compromising the truth and fellowshipping with heresy; it doesn’t work.” When I informed a young lady that being Catholic excludes membership of any other Church, she fled my presence, telling me that all churches are the same. Her belief reminded me of the excellent book “The Precious Blood” written in 1860 by Father Frederick Faber. In a nutshell: The crowning disloyalty to God is heresy. Where there is no hatred of heresy, there is no holiness! Let us not in the name of liberalism, ecumenism, modernism, and tolerance, keep the truth from heretics. The Church has never made converts by compromising the truth and fellowshipping with heresy; it doesn’t work. Those who insist that it does work only take their stance because they fear persecution and the suffering of Christ’s cross. Let us then be charitably truthful to heretics for the good of their souls.
