Terminology Exorcist - Validly Ordained Clergy who has been given permission by their local Ordinary (Bishop) to perform the Solemn Rite of Exorcism. Exorcists also perform The Minor Rite of Exorcism as well. The Solemn Rite is a Sacred Ritual that is performed on someone who is possessed. The Minor Rite is a Sacred Ritual that is performed on a Demonic entity that has infested itself in a home or building. Both are performed by clergy members. Not laity. Demonologist - one who has Primary Research in the field of Demonology and has a calling from God to serve in this ministry. Primary research is actual FIELD cases! SECONDARY RESEARCH is people who read books and then tell you what they read. They are NOT Demonologists. They are book reporters. Big difference. A Demonologist is laity. They are not ordained and should not perform the Sacred Ritual of Exorcism. Exorcist Investigator - never heard of this terminology in all the years of training that I have had. New term.
