Terrible experience today at Société Générale de Banque au Liban: I went to my SGBL branch to close my account because of a series of unprofessional events over the past 2 years: > ATM Machine doesnt always work > eSurf card declined on several online purchases > Bank had issues with Online Banking (esgbl portal) and the issue was covered by blaming my computer illiteracy > Everytime I need to withdraw the remaining a small amount of my eSurf card, the teller has to ask me Why are you performing that operation? > Everytime I need to withdraw money from my eSurf they tell me that this operation is not possible. However after a few calls, everything magically works out Moreover today, I went to my branch asking to withdraw the remaining amount from my eSurf card and to close the account in order not to be charged monthly: > The manager asked about my previous experience and when I explained, she just refused to close my account, explaining that it will be better soon > The manager forced me to update my account information (work, salary, address, contact information) telling me that this step is necessary in order to close my account. But she never did. > I insisted that I need to close my account and I need the money in Cash > The manager explained that I can never withdraw my money because my iLive card has been closed so I can not transfer anything out from my eSurf card (unless I use the money online) > I was told that I am the only customer thats weirdly behaving in the past 7 years SGBL might be the best bank for some, I just choose to take my business elsewhere.
