Terribly disappointed at Obama State of the Union but not at all surprised. Despite my support of some progressive policies I also support the US Constitution and its separation of powers. Obamas turn towards dictatorship has gotten worse. Thats exactly the correct term. The leader dictating what is the law. Just because you or I might like some of what the Dictator dictates doesnt make dictatorship by Executive Orders right. And dont even go there with Bush did it. Obama is President now. For over 5 years with two electoral victories, in case you didnt notice. Plus he is outrageously expanding his use of them beyond anything earlier Presidents have done. Also he still claims the right to spy on Americans. And to kill by drone anywhere in the world. And despite being Executive Order-happy, refuses to close the Gitmo concentration camp, in that one case claiming he cant go around Congress. Which means Obama is still a war criminal. Bush is too, dont go there knee jerk Obama defenders. But in terms of drone killings of innocents and declaring the entire world is a US battlefield, Obama is the more heinous. Obamacare being better than pre-Obamacare is not a war crimes defense. Attempts to solve inequality is not a war crimes defense. Nor are they defenses for UnConstitutional dictatorial use of power. Yes the Republicans currently are a bunch of backwards anti-women anti-gay anti-science evil bastards. Thats not a defense either.
