Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper James Colunga, assisted by members of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office and Waxahachie Police Department, served up a pizza party and gifts for children at the Texas Baptist Home for Children in Waxahachie on Dec. 23. “I myself am adopted and I wanted to give something back to the cause, so I got together with the Sheriff’s Office and Waxahachie PD to do something for the kids here at the Texas Baptist Home for Christmas,” said Colunga, who has been giving safety talks at the facility. “It turned out to be a great event.” The agencies secured donations of pizza from Domino’s Pizza and tea from Chicken Express, with the Waxahachie Police Association contributing toward the presents. Fifty-two children, ages 3-19, were served. “It means the world to me to help with community efforts such as this,” Ellis County Sheriff Johnny Brown said. “I want these kids to know that law enforcement cares about them.”
