Text: Matthew 5:44 (NLT) “But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!” Subject: Why prefer Christianity? By Pas. Movel B. Velasco Intro: 14 Marines were killed! Somewhat common news to us but to hear “being beheaded, mutilated & ransacked” is not in any principle of “Good Religion” or “faith”. People who have done that were members also of a certain so-called “religion”. Remember Sept. 11, 2001-where terrorists attack and killed more than 3000 people that shock the world! It was done in the name of “Faith”. Communism is also a form of “faith” believing self rather than in any extra external source. It is a belief! People of the world have many religions, where many peculiar and Para-normal demonstrations had been performed. Some have even cut themselves, walk over the flaming coals, holding snakes, casting spells, trances, yoga meditations, wear different clothing and think differently from others. Christianity is not still perfect in its present condition. Christianity in fact has many dark histories and was once described as “Only army of the world that shoots its own wounded!” But I want to state clearly and strongly today, that still Christianity is the best preferred belief to adhere and embrace. 1. Christianity is the only religion that emphasized “forgiveness”. Matthew 6:14-19 (NLT) If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. [15] But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.” 18:35 Thats what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters in your heart. Mark 11:25 But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too. 2. Christianity is the only religion that commanded to “love your enemy”. But I say, dont resist an evil person! If you are slapped on the right cheek, turn the other, too. “But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!” Mat.5: 39, 44 Matthew 5:39 (NLT) But I say, dont resist an evil person! If you are slapped on the right cheek, turn the other, too. Ro. 12:20 “Instead, do what the Scriptures say: If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink, and they will be ashamed of what they have done to you. 3. Christianity is the only religion that concerns for all people. Jn. 3:16 Mat. 11:18 Jn. 6:47 4. Christianity is the only religion that freedom of mankind is being included. Jn.8:32 Gal. 5:1 Yes, many had tried to destroy Christian faith form outside and inside but still, it is the best faith to embrace. Once in a movie the priest actor said, “The skeptic says, ‘if there is God then why we have wars!’ I said unto them, if human will just obey the Lord, then there will be no more war!” Yes, Christianity has a lot of mess! Sometimes we act like if not much worst of those other religion that we considered ruthless and perverts. But it is not Christianity itself or its teaching is the problem-but the heart of men. Where people chose to live and act the way they wanted it to. Still, I like our religion despite of our differences. The schism inside of Christianity does not nullify the truth it is bearing. Eternity will judge who is who and which is which but as for today-let me repeat-I’m glad I’m a Christian. Christians are those people who believe in one God through Jesus Christ, our Lord and in-dwelled by the Holy Spirit. People who live up their values from the Bible and apply it in their life. Think of it: You can decide where you can go to school. Girls have the right as much as the boys to be schooled. People work hard not of being forced but being motivated or even hired! People can accept or reject. A person who disrespects others and transgressed the law is not being tried without due process. You can eat what you want provided it suits your taste and helpful to your health. If you are not a Christian today, I encourage you to decide to believe in God through Jesus Christ. Accept the Bible as the Word of God. Repent from your sins and decide to follow His Words. Christianity is all about Jesus Christ and his mandate to mankind. I’m proud to be a Christian! Do you have Jesus? Religion is good but without Christ-it is not Christianity!
