Teyohate Kahswentha and the Blood and Body of Christ Sacrament (dedicated to the Onkwehonwe, Christian and Traditional, and to those seeking the root of the Tree of Peace) People make up the Living God as God is not living in flesh and bone per se. The body is characterized by a spine (grow a spine!) and blood is characterized as the relationship that spine will carry. So the Living God is a corporate living entity, meaning that some people are as extremities, some are organs, some are the hair etc. This is how the Living God is exemplified by the Hrlotinonhsyonni (hrlo den no syo nee –Longhouse Architect Nation) conceptual basis of the Teyohate Kahswentha, or loosely, the two row wampum. The meaning of Teyohate kahswentha (day yo ha day gus one ta) is “two ways that converge to become a spine” or “two roads develop to become a back (or basis of a body).” It is meant to firstly show the relationship that one carries with the Great Spirit or God, and then it is meant to show the relationship between all other things. The simplest this wampum comes down to has to be two sided; the same as any relationship is two sided. It is characterized by 3 lines of one solid white river, and upon this river (of life) are two purple lines that denote the two bodies in relationship to one another, and the basis of understanding is that in heart and body you will be next to the Great Creator. The Holy Covenant to worship, believe and follow God is characterized by equality in respect, love, and peacefulness (the 3 white lines). “Be ye therefore perfect as your Father which is in Heaven also perfect.” (Mt.48) It must also be noted that the lines are parallel to each other symbolizing that one does not tell God how to be God, and God in turn grants you the freedom and free will to be as you are, warts and all. Walking with God is what your road is used for. If you are stopped on the road, you make God wait (and he will) but to serve God is to walk with Him. Make Him wait too long and He’ll move on without you. If you fall away from God, call his side closer to you (through prayer and ceremony) by being humble and honest, whether you are feeling good, bad or indifferent. Only then can you begin to develop a living agreement and relationship, incorporating you into the body of Christ. That relationship is to become like the spine or trunk of a tree. Go ahead, hug a tree, and like the relationship one has with God it is immoveable and can not be uprooted by hand by anyone. If your agreement to love God and follow His Law is the spine, and the relationship the back, and you are part of the body of Christ, when you take the Sacrament of the body and blood of Christ it is much, much more that just an archaic ritual. If you grow a spine it means that you stand up and speak up for yourself, but if you are of Christ Body, your spine is His. So you can, you will, you must speak up for and defend Christ! Do NOT however lose your mind to anger or ego, even if you are right, as indignation whether moral or religious does not lead to Respect (one of the bases for understanding). If respect is broken by you, you are not upholding the spine agreement you made with God, as God holds ultimate respect (and patience) and hence you are moving your road away from God’s. Maintain respect, love and peacefulness in any situation, best as one can, and ask God to allow the Holy Spirit to enter such that one may properly defend Teyohate Kahswentha, the Body and Blood Sacrament to Christ. Yes, the Sacrament of the body and blood is structurally the same agreement as the Teyohate Kahswenta, with the body as one row and the blood as the other making the two together the basis for life in Christ. By taking the wafer, symbolically the body, you are saying yes, I wish to believe in God and be as the Body of Christ. By taking the wine (blood) you are saying, yes I wish to come unto Heaven and be given the gift of life, as the secret of life is in the Blood. The two roads sacrament, one body and one blood form the basis or spine of one’s lifetime meaning you have to live a life worthy of God’s Grace, befitting of Christ’s Love (two rows). The Teyohate Kahswentha is the basis for agreement and understanding for life between the Hrlotinonhsyonni and the Great Spirit, God. The two wayed Sacrament of the Body and Blood is the basis for agreement and understanding between the Christian Nation and God. So the understanding of being an Hrlotinonhsyonni Christian is you follow the two row wampum through the Body and Blood of Christ. This is a strong basis point that an Onkwehonwe person can fully be Onkwehonwe, using Onkwehonwe tradition to live up to God’s expectation of the Ten Commandments to “ Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land (i.e body) which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” (Ex.20) However, It does not work for us if one road comes up short. If I disrespect my self by not adhering to my tenets, the basis for life dissolves. If I disrespect God’s way or don’t follow ALL the Commandments, then the basis for life dissolves. If I only partake of one half of the Sacrament then the basis for life dissolves. If I only take the wafer (the Body) I am saying to God, ‘well I believe in you, but I’m not going to follow you.’ If I take only the wine (the Blood) I am saying to God, ‘I believe in Heaven and I want in, but I don’t really believe you or your ways.’ You must take both sides of the Sacrament seriously in order for the Blessing to be granted. It’s the same as you must take both husband and wife seriously in a marriage. If you love, believe and follow God, you MUST live it, making HONEST mistakes along the way, and by the Grace of God, you shall have your Life reward. Should you truly be close to God’s road/way, He will grant you Eternity of the Heavens through Christ. Living, being, doing and speaking it, 4 directions. This is what it means to be the body of Christ, the Living God. Consequently this is exactly what it takes to be Indian (in dios or in God). So Teyohate Kahswentha –two roads form a back (the basis for body) – is how an Onkwehonwe will be granted more life and prosperity, and it is how she is to walk for her lifetime. The principles follow the colours white for purity or divinity and the purple for dignity, and reverence or veneration. Onkwehonwe have pure hearts and their minds are dignified with reverence and veneration for all life. The meaning loosely of onkwehonwe is person who intends to be real; or person who becomes as God intended, i.e. God only wants REAL ones; real with God (so you see any one can become onkwehonwe). Teyohate Kahswentha is the theoretical and actual framework for ALL relationships from the most perfect with God down to the most difficult with God’s naysayers. You even carry the two row with your cat. She can tell you she’s hungry, but can’t make you feed her. You can tell her where to pee, but you can’t make her pee on the spot. She trusts because you love, two rows, it even describes inter-special relationships. Consequently the two rows of the male and female, the sperm and ovum at conception, first form a spine. That is, two DNA strands came together and the first thing that the cells in an embryo make is a fold that becomes the spine (note: two ends of this fold represent the Eastern and Western doorkeepers, that is the Mohawk and Seneca). In a human being, why make a spine at all, why not make the brain or heart first? The answer is to bring in the Spirit Fire and ignite the central nervous system, which, in Hrlotinonhsyonni tradition is akin to the Heart Fire of the Onondaga Firekeepers. If spine is leader of the skeleton and the secret of life is in the blood and marrow within the bones makes the blood, then the bones have knowledge of the life blood born of darkness as it is dark within the bones. It is this knowledge that remains with the bones, which is why the onkwehonwe are so reverent with the Sacred Burial grounds. It is why the bones must not be disturbed, because Onkwehonwe have real respect for their Kahswentha with the Ancestors and to disturb the bones it may anger the soul of the past one who knows the secrets of life and death, and that anger may lead to death or sickness in the soul of the alive person who disturbed them (think King Tutankhamen and all who died who disturbed his tomb. Think the Montreal bridge deaths). In short the belief is that part of God rests with the bones so they are to be venerated (even sand is alive with God, note the alive electron in the atoms of grains of sand—i.e. it is those same electrons that make you alive through the central nervous system). Anyway, the first of the bones to be created is the spine, such that the heart and mind may be sustained. Ever see an EKG of a spine? Looks like a tree made of lightning (the Light of Life, the Tree of Life itself). With the spine made first, God’s fire may ignite in you, and He could not have done this without a spine first. That means that God must be brought into the (spine) fold first; so that the body may accept gifts of the heart/emotion, the brain/intellect and finally the Spirit/divinity. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Mt.6.33) That is why for the two row to work you must approach God first, because He was patiently waiting for you, but he won’t bend to your will. This male/female conception causing spinal tap promises the Covenant of the Body and Blood of Christ if you but open the door to God, first. Christ says, “There is no way to God, except through me.” (Jn.14.6) Teyohate Kahswentha. Your road accepts Christ’s Gate of Love (white) and Peace (purple) to bring in God’s road which when in parallel, become equal with the gifts of blood and body because a ‘spine in Christ’ first was made when the Holy Sacrament of Marriage under God was made. That means that if mom and dad were true to God through Christ’s Love when they were married, a child conceived would be truly touched by the hand of God, yet if the Sacrament to Christ held true. Notice how if Union was first, body(soul) next, then blood (heart/emotion), mind(brain/intellect) and last Spirit(self/divinity). Spirit is last because without any one of the former it could not be sustained properly by the being. Union with God through the Sacrament to Christ gives us the basis for existence as denoted by the spine. Union with the blood gives us the ability to live and carry on as well as the ability to heal. The heart is the cup of Christ, the Holy Cup, if you will, sang real. Sang real means REAL blood. Real blood is ONLY granted to True Believers or Onkwehonwe. Real blood is a Christ/Creator given gift. “Behold, MY cup over runneth.” (think about it, the heart wells with water then spills over, giving freely life to that which seeks asks and knocks). So Teyohate Kahswentha, two paths that form a basis for God’s Love to enter the world in a very REAL way, through you (and your love when it reflects Christ). Body, blood, mind; God Christ Holy Spirit. Teyohate kahswentha, the original instructions given to the Onkwehonwe tell us how to carry REAL blood, sang real, from the true cup of Christ’s Heart and Love. The bare bones of the contract or treaty say to respect all, to have peacefulness with all, and to Love all even your perceived enemies. Only then may you begin to understand the nature of God through purity, dignity and reverent countenance. If one remains pure, dignified and reverent AND you are close to God through the teachings of Christ, you may use your mind to obtain the Spiritual treasures of Christ Consciousness. “...lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Mt6.20-21). Christ Consciousness is not a thing, its a journey and relationship (so its not like you develop it instantly). The Holy Trinity are REAL and they support the surreal nature of creation. Spirit is the 4th direction represented in the medicine wheel teaching of the Onkwehonwe culture. There are 4 directions 3 axis and one of time (and all are interwoven). They are united as one body. The four colours of man are the black, white, yellow, and red. Out of the Blackness into the Light Heal the wounds and Be raised for the fight take back the night with Holy cause, Spiritual war now remove your flaws (“And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?” (Lk.6,41). “The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.” (Luke 11.34). “hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brothers eye. For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.” (Lk.6.42-43) If you think you not need do this, Christ says, “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” (Rev.3.16-18). So the true Holy Crusade is for the self and all others and it is governed by the medicine wheel teaching. Black – Holy Spirit, mystery, soul, ‘the Lord works in mysterious ways.’ White – God, Light, Rock of Firmament in the Heavens, the second day, heart. Yellow – Christ the Redeemer and Healer, fastest form of Light, hence first or Leader for God, brain. Red – the Real man, knowledge of the secrets of divinity does not come unless submit to Gods Law/Christ’s Love, blood, Divine Self). 3 axis, 3 directions, Holy Trinity, support the 4th direction governed by time as men are also governed by time/age. The Holy Trinity supports your life as a real person, but by the Grace of God. Teyohate kahswentha, body and blood, through Christ produced the body of Christ. 3 white lines support two purple rows, much the same as when one braids 3 strands produce 2 rows (look at a braid, it only looks like two real rows). The River of Life (white) supports the coming together of two beings of purple, you and the Great Creator first, then you and everyone else. This is the function of the Kahswentha. This is the function of the Sacrament. Body Blood Christ, 3 white lines. You and God, 2 purple lines. With proper use of soul(emotion), body(feeling) and mind(thought) and Spirit(Love/Peace) through Christ Love and Christ Consciousness WE WILL show the world once again to redeem themselves through the real knowledge of the land, both Christian and Traditional. And in fact when the Eastern Door that is Christ merges with the Eastern Door that is Tekanawita (Day gone na we da) it will begin the new basis for understanding that will erect the Longhouse once again, but this time is shall be around the world. In Indian country the Eagle meets the Condor (the north and south shall be united as well). But the time is now. You have the information. Use it and be proud to be Onkwehonwe. This is why Mohawks became Christian. All this because I learned my culture first, then I learned about Christ. I loved the Great Spirit first and opened my mind to the possibily of Christ as Redeemer. I tried hard to show I was willing to learn 2 ways or roads, one Traditional, one Christian, and when I loved, believed and respected both equally, equally the Holy Spirit gifted me with inspiration to uplift you today. Through careful understanding of the symbolism interlaced, Christ may be reinforced by our Hrlotinonhsyonni teachings and wisdom and Christ’s wisdom reinforces Hrlotinonhsyonni teachings. If you think it takes away, you are not using Christ’s wisdom (remove the plank), nor Tekanawita’s wisdom (use the Condolence, to remove dust from the eye etc), as ALL wisdom reinforces itself, if it does not, it is not the Great Way of the Great Spirit. If you’re not a Christian good, Tekanawita is your Prophet and Christ is your contemporary. If you are Christian good, you don’t need Tekanawita to save you but use his knowledge until you can see his wisdom is the same as Christ’s. No one is saying to convert to each other’s religions. No one is saying to perform each other’s rituals. No one is saying you have to listen to the dogma of belief (so don’t be fooled about what they say). What is being said is that the fundamental precepts of the Teyohate Kahswentha and the Body/Blood Sacrament are almost the exact same thing, yet seek this out for oneself. Wisdom reinforces itself or it is not wisdom by God. However, if you are Hrlotinonhsyonni and Christian you MUST (by God’s Commandments) Honour your father and mother by seeking the roots of the Great Tree and part of the roots to the Tree is the Teyohate Kahswentha. Christ has traced his roots to Mohawk country and is seeking shelter under the Great and Everlasting Tree of the Long Leaves, and as Onkwehonwe Christians it is your duty as Christ’s ambassadors to see that he finds a seat next to the Great Tree (but you may only do this IF you learn Tradition). Christ brought Love, Tekanawita brought Peace, now if both have EQUAL Respect in the minds and hearts of true believers that lays the foundation of the two row (Tekanawita) and the cornerstone (Christ) for the beginnings of a United World. “...The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.”(Mt.21.42) This means that BOTH the Indians (longhouse builders) rejected Christ, and those from the Eastern land (Christian Nation builders) rejected the message of the Great Peace of Tekanawita as he is the Onkwehonwe cornerstone. If Christ becomes cornerstone, then Tekanawita is the land it lays upon. Meaning even Christ can not enter the Land of the Hrlotinonhsyonni without permission, and you my friends are that fertile ground ready to grant permission. All praise be to the Great Spirit. Two roads make the Spine Treaty to support all life of beings. Two offerings make the Blessed Sacrament to support salvation of said beings. Same wisdom, different story, that’s all. In closing, whether you believe in Bible or Wampum the Great Creator’s knowledge and wisdom is gifted to worthy nations and peoples around the world (not just one way), and it is up to us how to keep it Sacred together. The Body and Blood Sacrament and the Teyohate Kahswentha Treaty form the same basis of understanding as Wisdom begets Wisdom. Coincidence, I think not! We must tell the stories of knowledge and see where and how they align into wisdom. Then wisdom may be produced amongst people once again and friendship and relationships may flourish. God’s knowledge and wisdom is where we find it. Learn God’s knowledge, and then speak the words of God’s wisdom all-ways. This is the Sacrament this is the Treaty. Tekanawita says, “If any man or any nation outside the Five Nations shall obey the laws of the Great and Well Laid Path, the Kayanerenhsera’kowa (guy yun nair lun sir la go wa), and shall make this known to the statesmen of the League, they may trace back the roots to the tree. If their minds are clean and if they are obedient and promise to obey the wishes of the Council of the League, they shall be welcomed to take shelter beneath the Tree of Long Leaves. We place at the top of the Tree of Great Peace an eagle, who is able to see afar. If he sees in the distance any danger threatening, he will at once warn the People of the League.” Christ says, “Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? (Mt.7.7-9) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” (Mt.5.9) The Peacemaker is our Prophet. The Christ-child is for Christianity. The peace lives on in the hearts and minds of the people, would they proclaim it so. Both Saviours were both born to virgins. They both brought the message of peace and brotherhood. The Peacemaker built the Longhouse of the Confederated Nation. The Christ built the biggest longhouse in history, 1.2billion strong (that makes him a longhouse builder too!). The eagle says, “They have been chopping at the roots of the Tree of Peace for some time now. Disunity due to evil minds and ignorance and fear (of each others way/road) is eating the hearts of the Nation and it is poisoning their body and blood. The children of the Mohawks of Onkwehonwe prophesy will raise the Tree of Peace one last time. If we can not amalgamate Traditionalism and Christianity, how will we accept any one else like other Onkwehonwe Nations or other nations from around the world into the Great Peace? If we can not amalgamate even two roads to peace how then can we say that we are proper Christians knowing Christ’s mind toward peace and love and brotherhood? This unity must be done within the self first, then expand to the reaches of the 4 White Roots of Peace, Strength Unity and Love as governed by the Great Spirit, the Great Creator, the Great Prophet, and the Great Self or Holy Spirit, God, Christ and Adam.” Christ’s Love is for all. Tekanawita’s Love is for all. Great Spirit/God’s Love is for all. What is done against the least is done to the greatest, and to reject any of them is folly. The Teyohate Kahswentha is how brotherhood and friendship WILL form across the nations, now that the entire World has come to the Hrlotinonhsyonni’s doorstep. Open the door. Tekanawita and Christ are as Brothers in God through Sacramental Treaty. Open the door. Body in Christ Blood in Tekanawita, two roads. Do not be Peter. Open the door. All knowledge is intricately and irrevocably related, like the way all living creatures are also related. This is the way of the World; this is the true nature of God’s Wisdom. Ta’n etho, Atonwa
