Tezu gets solar street lighting system ITANAGAR, Aug 14: The LED Solar Street Lighting Systems have been inaugurated today at Circuit House, Tezu by the local MLA Dr Mohesh Chai. The project of installation of 50 Solar Street Lights was implemented by the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA),Tezu Division. Dr.Chai said that considering the acute power crisis at Tezu, solar street lights are very important and will be a great relief to us. He urged the people from all walks to ensure the safety and maintenance of street lights and share the responsibilities because it is their own property and asset. He also informed that some villages would be illuminated with the solar light in phase wise in future. He further said that his goal is development of Tezu and is doing his best possible in all fronts including construction of 132KV Line which is to be taken up very soon. On the occasion , he also mentioned about the activities being taken up by him on upgradation of District hospital to zonal level general hospital, upgradation of Public Health Centre, works on flood control and urged the officers and public to cooperate him in his endeavours. D.C, Lohit Dr.B.M Mishra said that we cannot think of any development without energy. The development of small scale industries and big industries would be possible when we get enough energy in form of power. So,we should put our all efforts to harness the renewable sources of energy like small hydro power projects, solar, wind energy etc which is abundant in nature free of cost. Renewable energy sources are eco friendly, non polluting and there is no adverse impacts to the nature, he said. He urged the APEDA to harness the wind potential at Parsuramkund where wind is abundant and proposed the appropriate capacity of wind mills in the area. He further informed that the people of Lohit would get more solar street lights in future in phase manner and would help in lighting many places. While welcoming the guests, Er.M.Bam,Deputy Director, APEDA,Tezu Division informed that the scheme was funded by REC Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibity(CSR) programme and under the consultancy services of Energy Efficiency Services Limited(EESL),New Delhi. The REC limited had sanctioned for installation of 861 LED based Solar street Lights in five districts of Arunachal Pradesh including 20 sets at Alubari Village in Lohit district and works have been already completed.
