Thailand Corruption Index drops Bangkok Post: 4 Dec 2013 at 07.07 Thailand ranked 102nd out of 177 countries in the latest Corruption Perceptions Index, with a score of 35 out of 100 for transparency. The country was No. 88 last year. The country finished two points down on last years 37, said Transparency Thailand secretary-general Juree Vichit-Vadakan. Thailand was on par with Ecuador, Moldova and Panama, she said. Transparency International based the findings on opinion polls from 13 pollsters. Only 54 countries received a score higher than 50. Thailand was ranked 16th out of 28 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, in which Singapore obtained the highest score, with 86. Singapore was also on the list of the worlds top five countries with low corruption levels, Ms Juree said. Denmark and New Zealand received the highest scores of 91. Afghanistan, North Korea and Somalia came bottom, each receiving only eight points.
