Thailand Update: ++++++++++++++ Tourism in Thailand has not been overly affected by the recent coup. The majority of our clients were unperturbed by the situation and continue to enjoy all that Thailand has to offer. In general the coup has been accepted by the majority of the population but with some exceptions as there are some very small scale groups who oppose the coup, but most view this as a means to move forward with political reform from the political impasse that stagnated the country since October 2013. The people of Thailand are generally peace loving and physical violence is not an inherent trait. Thailand is a unique country when it comes to dealing with internal conflict – looking through recent history one can see that Thailand is no stranger when it comes to using the military to help solve and defuse internal political conflicts. Overall, the conflicts are peaceful with little or no bloodshed. Once again the country is now moving forward, and we are pleased to report that the curfews have been lifted in the tourist resort cities including Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket, Krabi, and Koh Samui. The curfew period for the city of Bangkok has been reduced to the hours between 01:00 and 04:00. Overall, our prognosis is that Thailand is fast reverting back to its normal way of life as all private and public businesses and services resume to their normal modes of operation. Inconveniences to visitors to the country is very minimal.
