Thailands military junta outlines its plans. The army’s political roadmap implies that Thailand will not have an elected government until 2016 at the earliest. The roadmap outlines three successive steps: reconciliation, reform and elections. First, the army plans to hand over to an appointed interim government and national assembly in October, at the start of fiscal year 2014/15. The junta says that this appointed interim administration would be in place for up to 15 months. During this period a new constitution will be drafted. In addition, the interim government will be tasked with overseeing yet-unspecified political reforms and reconciliation efforts.
