Hamilton-Layer: I am not a part of the church so I can wear ministerial garb and celebrate in an enclosed sanctuary with the same people day in and day out, I am called out and chosen to make a difference to those who are living without and existing on margins of society. I am called to make a difference in a world where retribution is the order of the day and peace is a distant and almost faint goal. Worshiping in the fellowship of the saints certainly has its place but more than anything, we/I am called to be the voice, hands, and feet of God; offering a world love, compassion and wholeness that is rooted in the love that God has for me. As long as murder, robbery, child abuse/neglect, disease, bigotry, prejudice, poverty and indifference exist, the church still has a mission and I have much work to do.
