Thank You! Thank You! Thank You. And Blessings to all of you. The food we collected in church today joined food collections from churches, synagogues, temples and other many others across the area. Harris Hill UMC was a collection and distribution point. As food came in (and there was a lot, bless you all!), it was sorted by volunteers from churches and individuals and then bagged up and loaded into trucks. More than 500 families will benefit from the food being distributed as well as the National Guard who will be fed as well. As Bonnie shared this morning: As we await the thaw, we are reminded of the great need within 10 miles of this sanctuary. The scripture says: “Then the king will say “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Blessings to all of you for your kindness and generosity. As Pastor Katie Zettle writes below, it is thru the efforts of the local churches that people are being helped from the affects of this storm. As I begin the day at my desk I want to take a moment to give Glory to God-It is through the local church that people have been shoveled out-roofs have been cleared- and thousands of people have been fed. Everything you saw on the news happening on the news in Lackawanna came from the movement of the local church- Please call your friends and family to let them to let them know we are collecting food until 2pm at the church - or checks can be dropped off as well. Calling all of my Catholic, Baptist, Jewish Wesleyan, Lutheran, Episcopal friends that want to be a part of LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS!! The needs of the people will be met- and they will joyfully express their thanksgiving to God! 2 Corinthians 9:12
