Thank you, Bill Maher. An Atheist, many of his most strident, progressive views come from his hatred for religion. Trying to keep up with the enemy, Ive watched Bill Maher, off and on, for a long time. He is not an anti-capitalist, tax-the-rich, we-need-more-laws-and-regulations, kind of guy. He is fairly Libertarian, until he smells just the slightest scent of religion. His disdain for those who would order their lives or draft legislation based on guidance from a Higher Power is enough to drive him crazy. When an adversarial guest begins to make sense, Bill quickly turns to comedy to get a laugh from his zombie audience, distracting them, and moves on. I believe Maher honestly thinks that devoutly religious people are intellectually inferior, are dangerous, and are a threat to liberty. And no religious groups fit that description more than Muslims. Disliking all religions enables Maher to offer a fair, intellectually honest comparison, from which he draws his conclusion. Never one to shy from controversy, it still was brave of him to speak out when so many celebrities, politicians, even our president, will not. It also allows him to see that he and his walking-dead audience dont really have that much in common. Bill Maher is not a big government guy, and he is not a hypocrite. By definition, the more programs and handouts that government can bestow on liberals, the better. Both Maher and liberals dislike conservative, but for far different reasons. The hypocrisy among liberal groups, especially the atheists at Yale, the feminists, and the various gay groups, is absolutely mind-boggling. MSM will never point that out. Bill Maher jut did..
