Thank you Dr. King, and to the thousands and thousands of others from different nationalities and ethnic back~grounds, for your courage ~ standing firm in fighting for CIVIL RIGHTS after being brutally knocked down, beaten with billy clubs by city & state police officers, dog~bitten, jailed, fire water~hosed and finally murdered simply for our right as an African American to be treated fairly as human beings in these wonderful United States. Thank you for saying, No, to the White Only signs that hung throughout our cities and enforced by city, state and federal governments, requiring my African American brothers and sisters to WAIT at the BACK DOOR to get their meal in a paper sack TO GO. The same establishment took our monies which were the same American dollars Whites used to come thru the FRONT DOORS of those establishments to be seated and served. Thank you for saying NO, to drinking from separate water fountains by breaking those boundaries and drinking from them inspite of consequences. Thank you for looking in the faces of evil saying NO, to separate & unequal education for our children, unequal housing and employment opportunities for families AND demanding by not giving up when told No ~ Not Yet ~ or ~Wait ... Your persistence in moving ahead declared WE WILL HAVE A VOTE. Thank you for saying No, and refusing to sit at the back of the bus, just because of our Magnificent Beautiful Black Skin. I am the answer to many many prayers followed ~ up by your taking initiatives of leaving your comfort ~ zone, opening your mouth proclaiming ALL OF THE ABOVE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. As a result of your faithfulness in THE GOD WE SERVE, today we may enjoy freedoms. As I understand we have been victorious in accomplishing mile ~ markers, we still have work to do. As long as there is breath in my body, Ill continue bringing it to the forefront, lest our children and grandchildren forget ...
