Thank you Khaba Sahu-Re. I recall many years ago there was a woman I was friends with that would make a fist and hit me. Hard as she could. Id tell her that she really shouldnt do that, because if you want to act like a man you will be treated like a man. She continued, totally ignoring the tone of my voice and the seriousness of my visage towards her. One day she did it and Id had enough and I shot her a love tap to her shoulder. Nothing powerful, just a very playful jab. She was shocked, outraged. How could I hit her ? I explained Honey how many times have I asked you to stop ? I dont believe in hitting, dont play fight ( or slap box as we called it back in the day ) with men. It gets out of hand to easily. But as I told you before if you want to step into a mans role with a man you must be prepared for what comes back at you . Finally she understood. Physical contact is never appropriate for anyone. Gender has nothing to do with it. We may never know what caused Janay Rice to spit and strike Ray Rice. But their physical altercation though unintentional , has changed the course of their lives forever.
